Bioretention

Bioretention for Research and Education - Dedication Ceremonies

 

Two dedication ceremonies for the bioretention cells were held in April 2003.

 

University of Maryland President C. Daniel Mote and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Prince George's County, Alfonso Cornish officially dedicated the bioretention facilities on April 11, 2003.

Dr. Mote and Mr. Cornish open a ceremonial valve to allow water into the rain gardens.

 Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Prince George's County, Alfonso Cornish speaks, accompanied by Derek Winogradoff, Larry Coffman, and Mow-Soung Chen from from the County Department of Environmental Resources.

 

 

Rep. Steny Hoyer, J. Dennis O’Connor, County Executive Jack Johnson, Jon Capacasa, and  Allen P. Davis 

Rep. Hoyer, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Capacasa add plants to the University of Maryland Rain Gardens

 

 

U.S. Congressman Steny Hoyer, Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson, and Jon Capacasa of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency joined J. Dennis O’Connor, Vice President for Research & Dean of Graduate Studies and Professor Allen P. Davis from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering on Monday, April 14 in an event to celebrate the installation of these bioretention cells.
