Urbanization in the Washington - Baltimore area is an ongoing process, currently more rapid than anywhere else in U.S. The map below illustrates graphically the growth that has teken and is estimated to take place between 1980 and 2020. Such urbanization will be accompanied by tremendous inpacts to the hydrologic behavior of streams and rivers in the region. My research interests and sponsored projects include the development of new ways to measure and deal with the such urbanization.
